Well, this gain is more since August - and I finally put two and two together: August is when I started taking my anti-anxiety/depressant. I remember reading weight gain/difficulty losing as a potential side effect but I didn’t think it would matter if I was actively working toward losing… apparently, I was wrong. I’ve been beating myself up, but the truth of the matter is that...
WestCoastRunner is safe and ok
shrinkingwolf: rebeccaruns: runningwithguts: themotherrunner: regainingmymoxy: I just texted with her. Has anyone talked to Rook? Michelle is okay per Nicole. I just got an automatic text update from Rook at 40k, so I assume he’s okay. Thank God everyone is ok. Please reblog so everyone that’s worried can know. Glad to know they are ok.
C25K: When the going gets tough...
I’ve learned a lot about myself since my first breathless attempt at running back at the end of December. I’ve learned I can push myself just a little further when I don’t think it’s possible. I’ve learned there’s a difference between workout music and running music. I’ve learned not to pay too close attention to Judge Judy lest I smack into the front of...
This strep is one STUBBORN little bugger. I thought I’d kicked it - really did. Didn’t get too much running done last week as I took an amazing trip to San Jose, CA to visit my boyfriend (but we did SO much walking, esp. in San Francisco that I consider my “exercise” portion for the week checked). A canceled flight on Monday prevented me from gymming that day. No problem. ...
Soooo let’s see. I *finally* recovered from strep enough to get back into the gym on Wednesday. I was down for the count for a good week+, though - the first antibiotic they put me on didn’t have an effect, so I had to go back for something stronger. I decided enough with the repeating bullshit and hit Week 5 pretty hard when I went back on Wednesday. Then I went on Saturday morning...
Naturally, two days after one of my BEST runs ever...
Everything hurts and nothing’s okay. So mad at my body right now.
I know I haven’t been posting much - it’s not because I’ve given up. In fact, I’ve been more dedicated and working harder than ever. I’m now halfway through the Couch to 5k program and have developed a definite pace and joy for running (even on a treadmill). I’ve made additional gym buddies who are going to help me get back into strength training and teach me...

C25K: Week 4, Day 1
It’s getting REAL up in here, y’all! Today the program had me run a total of 14 minutes - 2 intervals of 3:00 and 2 intervals of 4:00. The first 3 weren’t the worst ever. I thought I was going to die a little bit during the second 4:00 interval, but it wasn’t til the last run - 3:00 - that I was in some serious PAIN. My cushiony socks were not doing shit for my poor ickle...
My triceps hate me this morning.
Oh my lord, lifting my water bottle is an EFFORT. Good thing tonight I’m just running xD
Bicycle crunches are the devil's invention.

Then I’m gonna turn on Doctor Who and do some squats, jumping jacks, pushups, upper body strength and ab work. And after I’m gonna clean up my kitchen and prep this week’s meals!
Blah blah busy blah blah accountability blah. FOOD/DRINK Breakfast: 6 oz. raspberry Greek yogurt, 2 clementines Midmorning Snack: Small apple, ~2 tablespoons peanut butter coconut spread Lunch: Quinoa black bean chili & 1/2 roastbeef sandwich with carmelized onions, mushrooms, swiss cheese and oh-so-terrible-but-omg-delicious horseradish mayo. Divine. Afternoon Snack: Carrot sticks &...
C25K: Week 3, Day 3
After a full week off, I was nervous that I might have lost some momentum and find it difficult to pick up where I was - not so! So there were parts of the workout that were difficult. Today’s running was 2 intervals of 2:00 and 2 intervals of 3:00 - I am doing pretty good on 2:00 intervals now. Score! The first 3:00 was a BITCH, esp. the last 1.5 but I pushed my ass through it and after...
C25K: Week 3, Day 2 (late)
I was away from my internet most of this week, so I wasn’t able to post about my Wednesday workout. It went pretty well! I kinda screwed up and paused the C25K app in the middle of a run, so I may have run a LOT longer than the prescribed 2.5 minutes - but hey, it’s kinda awesome that I was able to keep going and not really feel like it was awful. I’m definitely building my...
C25K: Week 3, Day 1 (Repeat)
Altogether, a pretty solid workout. I was sweating and breathing pretty hard - lately my heart rate’s been going a little too high during workouts, but hopefully as my body acclimates that’ll calm down. I ran at a faster pace than I have been, which was tough but not impossible. Then I decided to push it and run at an even faster pace for the last 1:30 run… and that’s...
Not much to say for yesterday - I started off with a heavy breakfast (giant omelette and sinfully delicious cinnamon raisin bread), but something didn’t agree with me and most of it er… came back out :/ Needless to say, no exercise - just a LOT of feeling crappy. Got my shopping done, though, so I’m stocked on healthy choices for the next couple of weeks!
i-am-a-child-of-time replied to your post: 1/26 Recap Almond Joy creamer?! OOOOH. And I’m getting a Kinect almost purely for the dancing :) It is of the GODS. I also picked up coconut mocha kcups at Target and that in those… omg.
I know, I’ve been slacking on this. Gotta keep myself accountable! FOOD/DRINK Breakfast: 2 packets of Quaker cinnamon bun instant oatmeal Midmorning Snack: N/A Lunch: 1 bag of microwave popcorn Afternoon Snack: ~1 tablespoon creamy Wegmans peanut butter Dinner: Dunkin’ Donuts turkey cheddar bacon on a French roll Dessert/Evening Snack: Chocolate chip banana muffin Drinks: ~36...
C25K - Week 2, Day 3 (repeat x1)
After Monday’s horror show of a run and being sick on Wednesday, I decided to repeat the last workout of week 2 to help build myself back up. It wasn’t bad, but I definitely struggled through the runs and had a huge motivation issue. It’s been a tough week, mentally and physically, and I just didn’t come in with the heart I have in the past. This weekend, I’m going...
C25K: Week 3, Day 1
Meant to post this last night, but I got distracted playing Lego LOTR and Skyping with the bf. Anyway. So this was the hardest workout I’ve had so far on this program. Maybe it was the 2 days off inbetween. Maybe it was the fact that it’s shark week so I’m already kinda energy depleted. But the two 2-minute intervals during this workout were BRUTAL. I felt like I was going to...
Doing well this weekend!
So my general goal for this weekend was to focus on a better eating schedule. Yesterday I made a conscious effort to have breakfast then lunch then dinner (even though dinner was a Wendy’s chicken sandwich). Today, I’ve only had some cereal from the box and a coffee so far, but I stopped myself from eating the entire rest of the box (omg so hard - honey nut cheerios are from the GODS)...
C25K: Week 2, Day 3
Three words to sum up today’s workout: ow. OW. owwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. I only took one week off, but somehow that was enough to make my body fall to pieces or something? Idk. It was the weirdest workout. First, I forgot my nice cushiony socks so I was feeling off from that. Then my laces were too loose… then too tight after I fixed that… so I had to stop twice to loosen them again....
Back to running tonight!
I was too busy soaking up every glorious minute with my boyfriend between Saturday and yesterday to spend time on tumblr (or track anything, really, ‘cause we went out to SO many delicious places haha). But today is back to the regularly scheduled programming, starting with the next in my C25K lineup. I’m a bit afraid of doing Week 2, Day 3 after a week straight of rest days but I...
C25K: Week 2, Day 2
Ah. ma. zing. workout! Seriously, idk what it was but everything about today’s running clicked and I felt like I could really do this - I enjoyed myself and seemed to be developing a real rhythm and form rather than flailing around. And it’s funny, because for most of the day today I felt really tired and thought it would be a slow workout I’d have to push through. Not so! I...
Om nom nom, salad.
FOOD/DRINK Breakfast: 2 egg omelet with 1 oz. feta cheese and 1 cup spinach; 1 clementine Midmorning Snack: 1.5 tbsp. C25k: Week 2, Day 1
I was so nervous for this workout because this is where it starts to get real - running for more than 1 minute at a time. I know to some that might seem like nothing to be afraid of, but for someone who has actively avoided running for 25 years it’s HUGE. But honestly? I had nothing to be worried about. Sure there were moments when I felt like I couldn’t continue, but they were always...
I just ate the most amazing bunch of grapes. Like. Little bursts of perfection. but now they’re all gone ;_;
FOOD/DRINK Breakfast: Starbucks veggie & montery jack breakfast sandwich Midmorning Snack: 2 clementines; banana with peanut coconut spread Lunch: 1/2 roast beef panini and andouille sausage/lentil soup Afternoon Snack: apple with peanut coconut spread on 2 slices whole wheat bread Dinner: 1/2 slice pepperoni pizza; 1 serving Hearty Peasant Stew Dessert/Evening Snack: small handful dark...
"Medium sauce pan"
This is a lie. The medium saucepan barely held all the ingredients BEFORE the gigantic amount of broccoli rabe. Faaaaail.
C25K: Week 1, Day 3
Today was structured the same as Day 2, but I found it harder for some reason. I think probably because I rested for 2 days inbetween and made some poor choices the night before? Idk, but regardless I spent 90% of the running portion SCREAMING inside “I haaaaate this!” Didn’t let that stop me or slow me down, though! I also had a more comfortable run because I switched to my...
1/5 and 1/6 Recaps
H’okay. So. It seems my BIGGEST obstacle is going to be the weekend. It’s so easy to stick to a schedule during the week because I do the same thing, roughly, every day. I am able to keep accountable and eat 5-6 times a day and get exercise in. But that kind of falls apart on the weekend when I wake up late and often eat maybe once in the day. Ugh. Saturday, I pretty much didn’t...
Anonymous asked: Thank you!!:) im going to Anytime Fitness Tuesday!:)
